A Message from Our Pastor

Making the Adjustment

Life is a matter of attitude.  To succeed in life, attitude is critical.  Of course, not everyone has a great attitude.  The internet carried an item not so long ago which reflects a rotten attitude.  It is called the "Cynic's Guide to Life".  It's a clever take-off on some of life's familiar cliche's.  See if you recognize any of these:

  • The journey of a thousand miles... begins with...a broken fan belt and a leaky tire.
  • I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows... and a foundation leaks and a ball game gets rained out and a car rustss... (you get the idea.)
  • Don't walk behind me, for I may not lead.  Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow... Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.
  • If you don't like my driving...don't call anyone...Just take another road.  That's why the highway department made so many of them.
  • Keep your nose to the grindstone and your shoulder to the wheel...It's cheaper than plastic surgery.
and finally:
  • This land is your land...This land is my land...so stay on your land.
Not everybody has a great attitude, but a great attitude is important to all of life.  In fact, our attitude can determine whether or not we respong to the Gospel.

If we need to adjust our attitudes to follow the Son of God, a familiar chorus written by Helen H. Lemmel shares how this can be done.

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace."

An attitude adjsutment to praise and glorify God can change our lives forever!
